In 2000 at Conference Perl Jon Orwant the basis for the main new language initiative has been made. It has led to solution to start job over upgrade of language which should be called Perl 6. Sentences about new language features have arrived from community Perl as a whole, and more than 300 from them have been presented.



Larry Wall has spent the following some years, digesting remarks and synthesising them in consecutive structure for Perl 6. It has presented the project for Perl 6 in a number of the documents named by "apocalypses", which are enumerated to correspond to heads in Programming Perl ("the Book of the Camel").

For today complete specification Perl 6 is not concluded in a capsule in project documents under the name of the Resume, which are enumerated to correspond to Apocalypses. Perl 6 it is not intended to be compatible though ways of compatibility will be developed.

Job Bradley M. Kuhn of which observed itself Larry Wall, considered possible usage of Java by the real computer as execution time for Perl. Kuhn's has shown this approach problematic, and in 2001 it has been solved, that Perl 6 the Parrot was controlled in cross language by the real computer under the name. It will mean, that other languages intending for the Parrot, will get native access to CPAN, allowing small level of cross language development.

In 2005 Audrey Tang has created the project of pugs for performance Perl 6 in Haskell. It was and continues to operate as a test platform for Perl 6 languages. The project of pugs has generated the active cross language community Perl/Haskell concentrated around freenode #perl6 irc the channel.



Many features in Perl 6 are shown now by the common features in Haskell. For 2006 Perl 6, the Parrot and pugs are under active development.
